Winter

It's been COLD outside, but nice and cozy in our classroom! We have been learning many new concepts the past few months, and everyone improved a reading level. I'm so proud of all of the kiddos! Below is a picture of Charles introducing The Water Cycle to our class. They LOVED having a visitor! We have continued practicing our sight words with different word building activities. We have mastered 15 minutes of stamina during Read to Self. Hooray for the 100th Day!

October News

I'm sorry I'm behind this month, but I've FINALLY uploaded my October pictures for you to view! So, here's what happened during October: In Math, we have been working on addition problems with missing addends and identifying if they are true or false.
Hy-Vee floral shop florists came in to talk to us about flowers to kick off our Science unit on plants. That's why we came home with beautiful bouquets!
We've been working with letter sounds and blends during Word Work in Daily 5 by playing games and using Play-doh.
We had an AMAZING Halloween party...awesome snacks, great crafts, and fun games! A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make it possible. The kids LOVED it! The Halloween parade was fun as well...Boo!

Beginning of the school year...

It's hard to believe we have been in school for 4 weeks now! We sure have been busy! One buzz word in our classroom has been the word STAMINA!
The kids are familiar with Daily 5 and so far we have practiced: Read to Self, Listen to Reading, and Word Work. Next week we will be focusing on Work on Writing. Our STAMINA has been built up to 15 minutes of uninterrupted work time! Yay! We LOVE working on the iPads and iPods! The two apps we have used the most are MeeGenius and Hungry Fish. Insects has been our topic of study for science. We will be wrapping up our unit with an insect report next week. We've been off to a great start and Fall is right around the corner!
